“As increasing workloads continue to consume more of our daily lives, so grows the importance of quick, nutritious, and delicious snacks as a means to maintain health.”
Shuji Hiyakawa, founder of 100 Yum
Shuji Hiyakawa
Chef Shuji was born in Fukuoka, Japan where his family ran an udon noodle restaurant and a sake shop under one roof. Growing up in such a gourmet centered environment, it was natural for him to jump into the culinary world. At the age of 30, he crossed the Pacific Ocean seeking new opportunities. From LA to Philadelphia, he devoted himself to leveling up his culinary skills, training with top chefs such as Iron Chef, Masaharu Morimoto. Next, he landed in Miami where he created unique menus with exotic ingredients for many top national restaurants before finally opening up several restaurants of his own.
Health and fitness have always been a big parts of his life, but the physically demanding and time intensive nature of being a professional chef caused him to miss meals and suffer from chronic exhaustion. He tried to supplement his diet with meal replacement bars but quickly found that nothing on the market satisfied his need for something nutritious and good tasting. He decided to created his own.
For the next 20 years Shuji created snack foods for himself, family and friends. 100 Yum was born from Shuji’s desire to share his creations with the world. Using Japanese ingredients that he is more familiar with rather than chemicals and additives, 100 Yum foods are better for you, and taste better than anything else on the market, naturally.
